Name: Dana Richard Marie Koff

What’s your story, morning glory?: It was before Dana was born that her father started drinking, a habit he picked up from his own father. Her mother thought she could over look it when she married him, help him even, but that wasn't the case. When Dana was finally born to her Witch mother and Muggle father, the two parents were already fighting daily. Though her birth brought peace for a good six months between both parties, the cease fire didn't last long. Dana's first memory is that of an angry booming voice and a beautiful woman holding her flustered cheek as she lay on the floor leaning against a wall and backing up from a giant shadow. Then there was a scream (a scream Dana later realized belonged to herself) and everything paused. The shadow changed directions and boomed over towards her direction. The footsteps were so big and giant, she wouldn't have been able to escape...The memory ceased then.
When Dana was seven years old, she fell out of a tree she was climbing. The beautiful woman came running after hearing her child's screams and swooped her up in her arms 'shhh'ing her and cooing to her softly. When Dana opened her eyes, she saw the auburn haired lady sitting next to her. The air was light and held the soothing scent of honey suckle. Her entire body ached. She tried to make a sound, but all that escaped her lips was a moan. That was the first time she saw a wand. Immediately, warmth began to fill her bones and the pain vanished. The corners of the woman's lips curled upwards - the magic that was just performed had to have been the most amazing thing Dana had ever seen! Was her Mummy magical? Was sh one of those faeries she had read about in her books? The entire idea filled Dana with complete and absolute thrill. She was related to a faerie! A smile quickly spread across her own face as her mother ruffled her cropped hair with cool hands before squeezing her child's sides making Dana cry out in shock and then squeal from the ticklish sensation. She was so caught up in the happiness she felt and the feeling pouring into her that she never noticed how her Mum's smile twitched, how her eyes reflected her deepest feelings like clear pools, how her kiss to her 'son's' forehead lingered before tucking 'him' in and then walking away.
When Dana woke up, she was gone.
The next years were hard for Dana and they would just get harder. At first, her father came at her and accused her of knowing where her mother was hiding. He cursed at her, he threatened her, he punished her. And finally, he beat her. Her father was drinking more and more regularly - scotch was his poison and though Dana didn't know what alcohol was, she already knew that the content of those bottles were evil. One night when her father brought home another bottle, Dana seized it from him and smashed it against the floor. She had it in her mind that if she could just get him away from the bottle...he could be just like those daddies she saw on television. But much to her surprise, her father was outraged. He dragged her by the hair across the floor into the kitchen where he threw her against the wall and began flogging her body with a wooden spoon. He left her there crumpled against the ground, bleeding. The beatings only got worse when he realized what a 'fairy' his son was. "GUNNA CRY AGAIN IN THE FUCKING CORNER LIKE A LITTLE BITCH? WEAR A FLOWER IN YOUR HAIR, WILL YA?"
Dana first arrived at Hogwarts broken and intimidated; any place that man agreed to send her to had to be worse then where she came from. Her first encounter wasn't the greatest either - the boy she met commented on her hair, how it looked stupid when it wasn't really her fault. Her father cut it that way and the fact that it wasn't even and was chunky in some places and thin in others was not something she could help. She was laughed at by the other boys and flinched whenever one got too near to her. When a fifth year laughed at her and called her a 'pansy', she was immediately reminded of her father and dove into her bed, pulling the blinds and cried herself to sleep. The school year progressed much the same until winter break when all the students went back home for the holidays. She didn't want to g back - she just couldn't. She may have been alone here, but at least she wasn't bleeding. She was safe and discovering how her mother had healed her those years ago after she fell out of the tree.
On the first day of break, Dana found herself sitting alone in the common room contemplating the things she had learned so far that year. A voice woke her from her concentration causing her to look up. Her hair was longer now and blocked her vision at first, but after brushing it away, she saw a familiar face...it took her a few seconds to realize that it was the boy she met on the train her first day. He scoffed at her. "Studying during winter break?" She didn't reply - at this point, the girl was good at not replying and becoming invisible. She felt him at her back, probably walking past her and going to where he was going to go originally. The next thing she knew, she heard the sound of a shoe against wood and fell against the ground. When she looked to her side, she saw the chair she had occupied moments before on the ground as she was and a pale taller figure dying in laughter.
She had had enough.
"I'VE HAD IT WITH YOU." She screamed as she got to her feet and glared up at the taller figure. "YOU'RE A FUCKING IDIOTIC BASTARD WHO ONLY FINDS ENJOYMENT IN OTHER PEOPLE'S GOD DAMN SUFFERING!" Much to her aggravation, the boy started chuckling in his effort to suppress laughter and pet her shorter head. "There there" he smirked as Dana let out a cry of aggravation and slapped him across the face. The boy paused as she gathered her breath and prepared for another verbal attack. "AND YOU KNOW WHAT? I DON'T SEE YOU WITH ANY FRIENDS EITHER AND AND...AND-" The next thing she knew, she threw herself at him and started bawling into his shirt. It wasn't fair, her life had never been easy. Her dad was a drunk, her mum left her at a young age and everyone thought she was a fag. What did she do to deserve all this!? "You know..." the taller boy began, patting her back sarcastically with a hint of concern, "next time, you should punch the guy. A slap won't really do much."
After that, the two of them were inseparable. Dana became immediately attached to the other boy (whom she soon found out was named 'Nyx') and in time, the boy became attached to her as well. They were two parts of a whole, and though Nyx teased her constantly, Dana could never stay mad at him for long. "So," Nyx once said as they sat in their bedroom, "which of these blokes do you fancy?"
"Ew Nyx! That's disgusting! I TOTALLY dig girls - ew man, that's just so gross!" Nyx just laughed and pat the back of her head. "Sure, sure" he replied as Dana continued her refusal.
Whenever she returned home for the summer, Dana was constantly beat and abused by her father. When she was thirteen, her dad caught her trying on some makeup she bought while in town, confirming his fears that his son was a fairy. "SO YOU LIKE COCK, DO YOU?" He roared and whipped her with his belt on her back and ass leaving welt marks deep into her flesh. When she returned to school, Nyx saw. He comforted her as best as he could and picked up his wand with his genius plan to hunt Richard Koff down and kill the son of a bitch. However, when simply leaving the castle failed, he told Dana that if she ever needed to go home, he'd come with her to protect her.
That year, Dana fell in love for the first time. Her name was Miranda and she was a 6th year Ravenclaw with straight blonde hair that gave off the scent of strawberry when flipped over her shoulder. Nyx definitely used Dana's first love to his own amusement (after all, Dana had never even spoken to the girl) and when Miranda got a boyfriend causing Dana to burst into tears, Nyx walked over, sat at her side and commented 'That's what you get for waiting'.
A few weeks later after bathing, Dana stopped to look in the mirror - something she never dared to do. Even as a child, she couldn't bring herself to look down at her body while in the shower, to examine herself in the mirror. It was all so...wrong. But after her heart crushed by a first love, Dana almost didn't care and either way, she needed something to get her mind off Miranda.
Her body was all wrong. It was square where there should have been...curves maybe? Yeah, definitely curves. She cupped the air underneath her pectorals and felt an itch in the air in front of her chest that she just couldn't scratch. Her muscles were wonky as well - even her hips bones were completely out of proportion! 'I always knew I was ugly...' she thought to herself as her eyes traveled lower...She crossed her legs quickly and drew her arms over her chest in haste, closing her eyes. In her mind, she pictured herself as she felt she was meant to be, how she would be beautiful. Opening her eyes, she wrapped her tower around her chest and walked into the bed room to where Nyx was carving away a piece of wood with a pocket knife. "I'm a girl." She commented, excitement filled her voice at the realization. Nyx looked up, his brow furrowed in disbelief. "No shit." He replied, making Dana feel stupid again, before going back to carving his wooden duck.
The next two years passed much the same, only Dana began sticking up for herself more often. The girl started wearing a girl's uniform (it gained her many detentions in the beginning, but what was a professor to do?) started talking more like a girl and became more comfortable with the fact that she was, indeed, a lesbian. She later found that her Dad didn't know she couldn't use magic out of her school and used it to her advantage - he'd seen what her mother could do and after a single threat from Dana, he was not going to risk encouraging her wrath.
So far, things seem to be looking up for Dana. So far.
